\u201cArt, Artists & You\u201d is a new interactive experience aimed at encouraging children and their families to explore self-expression and identity through art-making. The exhibition offers visitors unique opportunities to watch, follow, collaborate with, and take inspiration from contemporary artists as the artists work in studio spaces created especially for this exhibit.<\/p>\n

Part exhibit, part art studio, \u201cArt, Artists & You\u201d features the work of a diverse set of artists who share their singular approaches to manipulating materials. Four artists are in residence through August, working in their medium of choice in their home-away-from-home studios at the Museum. They are Sara Jimenez (found objects\/collage), Deborah Morris (fiber arts), Ezra Wube (technology\/new media), and Yeon Ji Yoo (paper). The artists-in-residence are expected to change in September.<\/p>\n

The artists, whose hours vary, demonstrate different practices and processes, and encourage children and adults alike to express their own ideas through art-making. Families are able to experiment with various materials and methods in space adjacent to the artists\u2019 studios. Some artists will invite visitors to collaborate with them.<\/p>\n

Works from contemporary artists Leo Castaneda, Delano Dunn, Tai Hwa Goh, Amir Hariri, Amber Heaton, Robert Hernandez, Juan Hinojosa, Firoz Mahmud, Natalia Nakazawa, Lina Puerta, daaPo Reo, Annesofie Sandal, Nyugen Smith, Adrienne Elise Tarver, Victoria Udondian, and Jennifer Williams are also on display.<\/p>\n

The art in \u201cArt, Artists & You\u201d consists of assemblage, works on paper, fibre arts, and digital media. Works on view include those of the artists-in-residence and a curated selection of work by additional artists. All the artists in the exhibition highlight new ways to view everyday materials and demonstrate how making art invites people of all ages and skill to explore self, landscape, and identity. By collaborating with, and learning from, working artists, visitors are encouraged to examine the realms of narrative and meaning.<\/p>\n
