Courtesy of Allan Bealy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>FROM KOLAJ 27<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Remembering Poet, Mail Art, &amp; Collage Collaborator Steve Dalachinsky (1946-2019)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Steve Dalachinsky truly was a renaissance man: New York downtown poet, free jazz troubadour, mail art activist and tireless collage collaborator. His sudden passing after a reading at an event on September 14, 2019, ironically a celebration for <em>A Book About Death<\/em>, has left the New York scene and the world community in a state of shock and sadness. Allan Bealy remembers the poet, mail artist, and collagist in <em>Kolaj<\/em> 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This article appeared in\u00a0<\/em>Kolaj<em>\u00a0#27. He is best known for his poetry and was awarded the Franz Kafka Prize, Acker Award, PEN Oakland\/Josephine Miles Literary Award, as well as a nomination for a 2015 Pushcart Prize. In addition to poetry, Dalachinsky also wrote about music and photography and wrote liner notes for several jazz musicians. He studied painting at the Pratt Institute before turning to poetry full time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This article appeared in&nbsp;<\/em>Kolaj<em>&nbsp;#27.
