Dafna Steinberg Reports on Collage at Art Miami<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once a year, galleries from around the world flock to South Florida in December for Art Week Miami. The city hosts over close to twenty art fairs over six days. This past year saw Maurizio Cattelan’s banana and duct tape art piece, The Comedian<\/em>, got all the attention, but we wondered what what really going on and asked Dafna Steinberg to provide a report on collage at Art Miami. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She writes, “The various fairs offer a glimpse into what art and artists are trending in the art market and the atmosphere allows one to feel like they are part of the elite while simultaneously feeling left out. The fairs are for collectors, curators and museums to see what is currently happening in art and decide if they want to add something new to their collections. So is collage something that the art market is interested in? The answer, it would seem, is yes\u2026it is.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was so much collage at the fairs, not just on the walls, but being discussed as an important part of art history and the artistic process. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
