His material pallet included discarded celebrity objects, shredded currencies from various countries, AIDS paraphernalia, and recycled historical materials. Bene\u0161 was actively involved in AIDS awareness, using his art as a discursive platform to address his own struggles with the epidemic as well as being featured in a number of documentaries about art, AIDS, and gay history. Pavel Zoubok Gallery presents a memorial exhibition celebrating Bene\u0161\u2019 life and work. The exhibition includes collage and sculpture pieces from the series \u201cBotanica\u201d, currency collages inspired by nature, \u201cMuseums\u201d, and others.<\/p>\n<p>This News and Notes item originally appeared in Issue Two.
