STATEMENT

My name is David Terrazzano and I am a Belgian visual artist specializing in handmade paper collage. My process is based exclusively on the assembly of torn paper: fragments of magazines, posters, prints, various textures…Each piece is chosen, adjusted, and layered to reveal shapes, volumes, and emotions.

I work mainly on human and animal portraits, often large-scale, in a realistic yet expressive style. My artistic approach is rooted in pop culture, contemporary symbolism, and a constant search for contrast between chaos and structure.

Through each work, I seek to reconstruct the visible from the scattered, to restore meaning to fragments, to make matter speak. The paper becomes skin, fur, light, or gaze—it tells a story through its rips and tears.

BIO

David Terrazzano is a Belgian visual artist born in 1982 in Charleroi, where he currently lives and works. Specializing in the art of collage, he has been developing an entirely handmade practice for several years, using meticulously selected, assembled, and layered torn pieces of paper. His work, both figurative and textured, is rooted in a pop and contemporary aesthetic. He primarily explores the themes of human and animal portraiture, playing with contrasts, volumes, and symbols.

Initially trained in psychoeducational support, Terrazzano has also worked as an art therapist, which continues to fuel the emotional impact of his creations.

Since 2015, he has exhibited regularly in Belgium and abroad. In 2014, he won First Prize at the Charleroi Art Fair, which marked a decisive turning point in his artistic recognition. His works have been exhibited in various cultural venues and galleries and are included in private collections throughout Europe.

Terrazzano continues his creative work with rigor and passion, exploring the infinite possibilities of paper to tell unique and powerful visual stories.
