Eric Knight
Eric Knight STATEMENT I suppose my story is similar to many artists when it comes to the beginning of their love affair with collage. When I was a kid, I would browse the art books at the town library where my mother worked. Impressionism, Cubism, Dada, and above all, Surrealism. Une Semaine De Bonté, Max Ernst’s collage masterpiece, made a huge impression on me. When I first got serious about doing collage, post High School, it was Mail Art. I used to put a lot of time and energy into the letter and, almost more importantly, into the envelope. The end of my Mail Art was when the Post Office lost a love letter/collage I sent to my girlfriend. It taught me to make collages on acid-free surfaces and put them in frames. So it was the end of my Mail Art, but not of collage! BIO Born and raised in Massachusetts, Eric Knight went to San Francisco Art Institute and Cooper Union in New York City. Since 1999, he has been living in Richmond, Virginia. ARTIST CONTACT [click to email] IMAGES
