Marc Allgaier
Marc Allgaier STATEMENT As an artist, I explore the interplay between perception, reality, and human influence through Raumcollages and immersive installations. My work transforms ordinary materials, like corrugated cardboard, into multidimensional landscapes that challenge viewers to reconsider their relationship with space, nature, and constructed environments. Central to my practice is the concept of “Wirklichkeit”—a term that encompasses both perception and effect. My installations are theatrical in nature, resembling stage sets where shifting perspectives invite the audience to step into the work, not merely observe it. By layering materials to create topographies, I aim to evoke the fragility and resilience of natural and human systems, offering a reflective space where art becomes a medium for connection and inquiry. In Berg- und Talfahrt, I use cardboard to represent the highs and lows of our shared realities, symbolizing the dynamic interaction between stability and change. These works serve as platforms for dialogue about sustainability and the power of perception, merging abstract concepts with tactile experiences. My practice thrives on the unpredictable, balancing conceptual depth with aesthetic experimentation. By transforming simple materials into immersive environments, I create works that invite active engagement, fostering a deeper connection between the viewer and the themes of my art. For me, art is a way to question, reflect, and reconnect—with ourselves, with others, and with the world we inhabit.
