Marne Meisel
Marne Meisel STATEMENT New York City-based artist Marne Meisel creates artworks that examine fractured aspects of time and emotions connected to the moments around her. Art processes include marbling paper, cut paper, fabric, photography, acetate layering, paint, and, of course, collage. Concepts involve Judaism, communication, and how interpretations get distorted. BIO Marne Meisel is an artist and educator in New York City. She received her BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in 2004 as well as a Master’s Degree (MA) in Art and Art Education from Columbia University Teachers College in 2012. She was selected for a special scholarship to Columbia as an employee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. After receiving her Master’s degree in Art and Art Education, she is currently part of the visual arts department at Brooklyn High School of the Arts in Brooklyn, New York. During the summers, she completed artist residencies at the Women’s Studio Workshop and Openings Residency at Lake George. Her artwork has been shown through Solas Studio, Dab Art, SOHO Renaissance Factory, AIR Gallery, Visual AIDS, Site: Brooklyn, Macy Gallery, Columbia University, and Metropolitan Museum of Art Employee Art Show.
