STATEMENT

As a collage maker, I’m inspired by the surrealistic possibilities of mixing images to a new reality. Sometimes I only need two pictures fitting together, another time I use different images to make a new “painting”. In my collage I like to play with alienation. People have to watch to find the essence of the collage.

BIO

I started my career as a visual artist in 1978 as a Gold- and Silversmith. Fascinated by the auricular style, I explored the possibilities of fluid forms. After a theological study at the beginning of this century, I started as a sculptor and collagist.

As a sculptor, I work in stone and wood and my work is mainly figurative.

My collage-work is very often inspirited by theological subjects like The Seven Deadly Sins and The Seven Works of Mercy. In these cases, it involves transparent collage under bulbs or between acrylic plates.

At the moment, I’m working on a collage project involving the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a carousel with 80 different collages inspired by Revelations 6:1-8.

Every first Wednesday of the month, I organize PlakPlaatsTilburg, a walk-in collage evening. I’m the initiator of Pakje Kunst, an art-in-a-box project in The Netherlands.
