STATEMENT

My personal style began with an uncontrollable urge to create artwork out of scraps. For a large part of my life that was with sculpture, in particular woodworking. I would collect wood scraps and form them into colorful “quilted” laminations. I eventually transitioned to creating two-dimensional collage work on wooden panels. I cut up just about everything, my drawings, paintings, sketches, wood scraps, and even my daughter’s doodles. I currently create custom art commissions and have recently started collaborating on commissions with my illustrator husband, Lane Smolen.
