STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

JAF lashes out by creating a series of images, collages, and mixed media pieces, using molded, damp, and found pornography magazines, pristine magazines, children’s books, stickers, wallpaper, and anything else that may catch his eye. Obvious interests in street art, erotic subject matter, pop culture, fashion, religion, and current events consume his thoughts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The magazine pieces are then the inspiration for the storyline which is then assembled with hand-drawn additions to each piece of found paper via, watercolor, graphite, ink, acrylic, and pencil, which tend to expose his unique thought process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Growing up as a young gay man in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota, JAF documented many misfortunes in life via coloring, drawing, and painting with silly paint kits bought by his mother. But due to the dark content of the material, JAF always hid and disposed of almost anything that would have raised questions. This was the beginning of his fear to share anything creative with anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After breaking the chains of self-doubt, and religious abuse, and genuinely reconnecting with his creative self and after relocating to Seattle, he started to create heavily in 2003 with Polaroid manipulation and paint. It quickly escalated to photography, painting, and mixed media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the start of a creative journey, that’s unfurling itself in a backward motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
