STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My creative process combines my pioneer-spirited West Texas roots with my New Orleans cultural life, throwing Mardi Gras in for lagniappe, or “a little something extra”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I paint with paper and most of my current artistic projects are mixed-media: paper, pen, and paint collages. I enjoy torn paper, primitive representations as much as precision-cut pieces. I often bring the past into the current reality with my collages. I incorporate quotes, lyrics, or poems to further elucidate the theme and to stir emotion. Visual texture and bright color are representative in my art. I am passionate about learning new techniques that I can combine with my current interests to produce exciting aesthetic experiences for the viewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carol M. Lynch is devoted to paper and textile collage at this time in her life. She has continually incorporated collage into the arts and crafts chapter of her life while raising her family in the unique, creative city of New Orleans since 1991. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lynch was raised in a pioneer, musical, conservative, christian, feminist, and West Texas environment. Then she left West Texas, moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and all sorts of wild happened. She is inspired by the challenge of creating art for an objective, a purpose, or a function. and she strives to incorporate the myriad details of the raison d\u2019\u00eatre for the piece. Since 1998 she has been heavily involved with the Mardi Gras culture of New Orleans, designing and creating costumes, headpieces, Queen\u2019s collars and trains, sequined appliques, invitations, centerpieces and collage shadow boxes to commemorate the events. For the 2023 Krewe de Jeanne d\u2019Arc parade throw, she distributed a portfolio of wooden postcard collages depicting Joan of Arc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a Costume Designer since 1979, she has been influenced by the colors and styles of costumes throughout history, designing and sewing commercially. In her sixties, Carol realizes that her life of costuming and crafting is art and is passionate about expanding her knowledge of collage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
