STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joanne\u2019s collages starts with one image, sowing beauty and poetry in this magical but absurd world. They are intended as a ticket to a parallel world. Beauty and poetry? Certainly. Lightness and occasional gentle madness? That too. But beneath the surface, details assert themselves and demand attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artist is interested in expressing intuition. She has chosen not to use her mind, but to create collages with her hands, which known so well how to listen to images. Listening to images, letting her hands fly, following her heart, celebrating the pulse of life. Stopping time, FLOW-ting, in fact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each collage tells a story that becomes personal to the viewer. One might wonder if the story that emerges corresponds to what the artist intended to express. But that doesn\u2019t really matter. What matters is what the collage wants or needs to tell the person looking at it. When that spark ignites, when a message reaches their heart, the collage has achieved its purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montreal native Joanne Lafrance is a Visual Artist\/Collagist. For several years, Joanne explored different mediums, including watercolor and acrylic. It was in the silence of the pandemic that collage found her. And collage showed up with a mission: inspiration. For that she has started a monthly challenge and a YouTube channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joanne enjoys participating in various challenges, such as The 100dayProject, which she has completed six consecutive years. This global online challenge invites people to be creative every day for 100 days. She also enjoys collaborating with other collage artists, such as The Postal Collage Project host by Marty McCutcheon (Berkeley Commonplace), In 2024, she created her own project Dans 3 2 1\u2026 scrapzine<\/em>, a project to exchange scraps and to create scrapzines. She ended up making 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions, as well as art fairs. Her collages can be found in collections such as the Kanyer Art Collection, a zine in the collection of the Biblioth\u00e8que et Archives nationales du Qu\u00e9bec at the Grande Biblioth\u00e8que de Montr\u00e9al, and another in the “Modern Fluxus” exhibition by DadaCutCollage, which brings together 100 artworks created by artists from 25 countries. Her collages have also been seen in the streets of Ukraine and in the caf\u00e9s of Greece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joanne is a member of Artists in Montreal (AIM) and Artistes en Arts Visuels du Nord de Montr\u00e9al (AAVNM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
