STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking bits and pieces of my photos of people, streets, and neighbourhoods of Beirut and reconstructing them into organized chaos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collage series takes you on a walk in the streets of Beirut. It is a representation of the city\u2019s post-war glory–where you can still see traces of the past intertwine with the present to create a promising future. Visualizing a city bursting with energy and the liveliness of the people echoing through its unshakable walls and resonating in its historical streets. The work is a representation of Beirut\u2019s interlaced neighbourhoods and hidden gems where the enthusiasm of neighbors echoes through closed doors and their love for life resonates through their everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghena Safawi is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Lebanon living in Texas. She works as a visual designer during the weekdays and a photographer in her free time. Ghena is an avid traveler, loves visiting new cities and exploring different aspects of cultures. Ghena has been an active visual artist for more than 6 years. Some of her photography work was exhibited in The Columbus Museum of Art in Ohio (2014), the Polaroid Museum in Las Vegas (2014), featured in Newsweek<\/em> magazine (2015), and in the Memory Makers book by Lexar (2017), in addition to being part of the photography mural at the ALT Hotel in Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
