STATEMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the past, I have often used my drawings of the model to make figurative mixed media work, and I have recently returned to this with a series called \u201cThe True You.\u201d In this series, I have played with gender identity, which has been a focus in current politics. I am currently using found vintage photos, vintage style wrapping paper, and maps to create the figure. As with all of my work, I am interested in the formalities of picture-making as well as the narratives that can lie beneath the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nancy Goodman Lawrence is a Los Angeles artist working in collage and mixed media. She studied at UCLA and earned a BA in art. She has won many awards, and her work is featured in several publications including Collage to the Rescue<\/em> (2024) by Wendy Tigerman, Kolaj <\/em>#14 (2015), Collage, Assemblage and Altered Art<\/em> (2008) by Diane Maurer-Mathison, Masters: Collage, Major Works by Leading Artists<\/em> (2010) by Randel Plowman, The American Journal of Nursing<\/em> (June 2012), Geo Graphic\u2014A Book for Map Lovers<\/em> (2013) published by Index Book, Gasher Journal<\/em> (Summer 2019), How Art Heals: Exploring Your Deep Feelings Using Collage<\/em> (2021) by Andra F.
