HISTORY

CUTOUT was founded in March 2021 by artists Annete Sagal, Katya Syta, and Olha Syta.

The project opens to the world a fast, unusual, emotional and intuitive, endless direction in art – collage. This is the philosophy of changing an ideal reality already created by someone into one’s own unusual narrative. The manifestation of an inexhaustible technique that manifests a new, radical knowledge of today and will help to expand the perception of modern art.

MISSION

CUTOUT aims to promote collage as a progressive and relevant form of modern art and to acquaint the masses with a revolutionary trend in art, its history, and its techniques.

KEY ACTIVITIES

The life of the project began with the creation of a collage festival in June 2021. At the end of the festival, a group of collage artists was formed, and in August 2021, a contemporary CUTOUT COLLAGE STUDIO was opened in Kyiv, where residents work and exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events are held every month. At the beginning of 2022, the community of collage artists CUTOUT LOVERS was formed, the project went beyond the studio and began to hold exhibitions in galleries and museums of Kyiv. Unfortunately, on February 24, the cultural life of Ukraine was suspended due to the terrorist actions of the aggressor country, and preparations for the second edition of the collage festival were put on hold.

The impossibility of holding events in Ukraine provoked the CUTOUT art project to enter the European art arena. In 2022, the project remotely organized exhibitions in Spain, Slovenia, Germany, Denmark and Israel. with the participation of CUTOUT RESIDENTS & LOVERS. From August 2022 to the present, CUTOUT has been conducting cultural and exhibition activities in Ukraine and the world.

CUTOUT FESTIVAL will be held biannually.
