HISTORY

Sunday Collage Club began in 2022 as a cohort of artists who participated in Kolaj Institute’s first Poetry and Collage Residency. The artists wanted to stay connected after the workshop ended. Later, they expanded the group to welcome collage artists beyond the original workshop members. Jennifer Roche facilitates the group.

MISSION

Sunday Collage Club is a free, online community of collage artists who gather via Zoom on the third Sunday of every month to learn, experiment, support, and share.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Sunday Collage Club meets monthly and features one or two collage artists sharing their work followed by informal, supportive discussion. Presenters have included Dunia Barrera, Katie Blake. Andrea Burgay, Laura Cannamela, Cheryl Chudyk, Dawn Conry, AP Faust, Jonny Garcia, Anthony D. Kelly, Kathryn Kim, Marta Janik, Andrea Lewicki, Mita Mahato, Lo Marie, Janice McDonald, Kerrie More, Jennifer Price, Rosemary Rae, Jennifer Roche, and Annete Sagal.

Also, each December, in lieu of their regular meeting, Sunday Collage Club members mail a “suitcase” envelope of paper goodies—and a half-finished (halfzie) collage—to a fellow member to complete. The Suitcase Project emerged from a Sunday Collage Club conversation where Rosemary Rae told the group about how she brought an empty suitcase with her to Singapore so she could fill it with collage and paper goodies. They liked that idea and launched this project to instigate the wonderful feeling of getting a “suitcase” of new collage materials. The artists complete the halfzie collages and and share them during a subsequent meeting.

MEETINGS

Sunday Collage Club meetings average between 10 and 20 attendees each month, logging on from all over the world. Everyone in the club is an artist with at least some part of their practice related to collage.

JOIN

The only requirements to join the Sunday Collage Club are that you make collages and agree to contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and respectful environment. Email Jennifer Roche with SUNDAY COLLAGE CLUB in the subject line to join.
