BARCELONA, SPAIN
Anna Taratiel has lived in Barcelona her entire life, and the influence is deeply embedded in her collage. Her colour palette is full of warm and salty blues and turquoises, which resonate of the ocean, in contrast to hot red and orange suns. Her geometric shapes move like the tide over sand, washing vertically or horizontally across the page.
Anna Taratiel is represented by Mini Galerie in Amsterdam, where you may see more of her artwork at their website HERE.
An Artist Portfolio about Anna Taratiel appeared in Issue Nine of Kolaj. Her work, Reconstruction I, was featured on the back cover of the issue. This is some of what Kolaj associate editor Ariane Fairlie had to say:
Taratiel’s geometry is an obvious product of her design training, and brings to mind the rich architectural culture of Barcelona. Many of the vertical compositions reach up like turrets of a cathedral. She transitions seamlessly from two dimensions to three and back, never confusing the sense of space…The shapes shift, rotate, reflect, and duplicate, punctuated by soft black forms just strong enough to enforce boundaries, but not too harsh to disrupt the rhythm or fixate the eye.
