COLLAGE ON VIEW
Astrid Fuchslocher H.: Anemoia
at Spritz (in collaboration with Open Art House) in Ivrea, Italy
16 March-17 April 2024
Astrid Fuchslocher H. writes: Anemoia is defined in part as a psychological condition characterized by a feeling of nostalgia or longing for a time or place that has never been experienced. A term linked to nostalgia for the past that this set of works captures through a vintage aesthetic and the collage technique. A medium that in this case guarantees the creation of spaces saturated with images, words and signs with the aim of reflecting the chaos, excess and over-information of these ideas, opinions and questions.
We are talking about works that are the result of research on various themes such as death, melancholy, illusionism, feminism, freedom, the city, history, human life, changes, different realities, the passage of time, advertising, just to name a few.
This research began with the procurement of books, magazines and various printed materials and culminated with the representation of an overall and personal vision of these themes and problems. The result is a collection of cuts that are transfigured into a new imagery–obtained through the integration, interaction and conjugation of each of the fragments into a unit–to give way to symbolic and metaphorical works that propose certain readings but also dialogues, reflections and reinterpretations by the viewer.
