Laura Rojbel: Tijeretadas y Encantadas

at Wall Galería Taller, Talca, Maule Region, Chile
11 July-13 August 2026

“Tijeretadas y Encantadas (Scissored and Enchanted)” brings together large-format analog collages by Chilean artist Laura Rojbel, made entirely by hand from found printed matter: old magazines, advertising sheets, domestic illustrations, and photographs rescued from family albums that ended up in second-hand deposits.

The exhibition unfolds across six narrative rooms – Childhood, Everyday Life, Divinities, Magical Realism, Symbols, and a closing room – moving from recognizable scenes toward worlds where the impossible occurs and no one in the scene finds it strange. Women are the protagonists throughout: mother, caretaker, worker, girl, goddess, dreamer. They are not portraits; they are mirrors.

Each work travels with a microcuento, a short first-person story written in the voice of the woman inside the collage and left deliberately unfinished, so that the viewer becomes an active observer who must close the narrative. Rojbel works in magical realism rather than surrealism: reality holds its shape, and the fragment is the unit of meaning.
