Courtesy of the artist.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>FROM KOLAJ 33<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marlene Weisman&#8217;s Artist Portfolio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Marlene Weisman comes out of the post-punk scene swirling around Club 57 in New York City\u2019s East Village during the late Seventies and early Eighties. She exhibited collage in shows curated by Keith Haring, worked as a graphic designer for <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>, where she won, with her art department cohorts, a production Emmy in 1992. \u201cI\u2019ve been working in collage, assemblage and transfer techniques for a long time,\u201d she writes. Like another of my many art muses, Bruce Conner, I do a lot of different series, lots of very different kinds of work. Her work has been exhibited at a variety of venues including the Museum of Modern Art, Islip Art Museum, BRIC Media House, NARS Foundation Gallery, and others. Some of her early Xerox transfer pieces were acquired for the permanent study collection of the Museum of Modern Art. During the heyday of Club 57, Weisman participated in shows curated by Keith Haring. In 2014, her solo show \u201cMaking the Mundane Marvelous, Transformations in Mixed Media\u201d was at the Central Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library. As a graphic designer, Weisman began her career in the music industry, and later became an in-house graphic artist at NBC for several seasons of <\/em>Saturday Night Live<em>, sharing a production Emmy with her art department colleagues in 1992. Her current freelance graphic design work includes print design, logos, posters, book covers, media packaging, screen design, and more.
