At the beginning of the 20th century, tuberculosis patients at sanatoria often participated in structured arts and crafts programs. Wounded soldiers recuperating during World War II were taught \u201clap crafts,\u201d such as beading and embroidery, as part of their medical therapy. Many artists have made their practices an essential part of their personal healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Artists included in this exhibition are Dylan Mortimer, Estelle L.
