Interwoven with desire and pain, memory abstracts truth into a simulacrum of experience, embedding the warp of feeling into its structure. It resides between reality and dream, acting as a collage of truth and emotion. Combining personal and collective histories, memory also allows us to connect to our ancestors and make sense of our present. In this exhibition, artists investigate the ebb and flow of fact and fiction in memory through the medium of collage, creating objects which imagine a hybrid reality of emotional truth. Using formal strategies which complicate reading of the subject as a coherent whole, these artists create a multiplicity of meaning born out of the matrix of memory.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
