Art at the Cave<\/a> and Pacific Northwest Collage Collective<\/a> invite collage artists to submit work for an April group exhibition, 3-26 April 2025, at Art at the Cave, a vibrant gallery and community arts space in Vancouver, Washington, USA. For this show, Art at the Cave is supported by the Pacific Northwest Collage Collective, a free-to-all social organization that hosts monthly in-person and online collage meetups. Join here<\/a>.

What is your relationship to the past? Collage artists use the past to invent the present as a way of imagining the future. Some collage artists embrace the past with camp, humor and affection. Some take only fragments of the past and reject the rest. For a collage artist, every piece of work represents hundreds of creative decisions about what to include. Often, what is left out is as important as what remains.

The word nostalgia comes from the Greek words nostos<\/em> (return) and algos<\/em> (pain). The Swiss physician Johannes Holger believed nostalgia was a cerebral disease caused by the vibration of animal spirits in the brain. Nostalgia, like collage, allows us to time travel and manipulate our personal and cultural histories. Collage is a sort of paper witchcraft where we may invent a bold and radical future out of a pile of scraps. Collage has been an integral part of political movements during times of artistic rebellion and cultural renewal. From Dada and surrealism to punk and street art, we celebrate the potential of collage as an accessible and democratic medium. We invite you to experiment with form and take creative risks. We invite you to explode your understanding of what collage is and take your practice in a new direction. What if collage could save the world? What if collage could save your life? Why not believe that it can?

How to Enter:<\/strong> Send an email to gallery@artatthecave.com<\/a> with photo(s) of your work(s). Label your photo with the title and dimensions of the work (horizontal\u201d x vertical\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sales:<\/strong> All works except video must be available for purchase with a 50% commission if sold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Juror: <\/strong>This is a blind jury process by Art at the Cave\u2019s curatorial team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fee:<\/strong> There is no entry fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
