Courtesy of the artist.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">COLLAGE ON VIEW<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bird on a Wire<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">at LeMieux Galleries in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA<br>21 May-14 June 2026 (part of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/kolajinstitute.org\/kolaj-fest-new-orleans\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kolaj Fest New Orleans<\/a>)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The idiom, \u201cBird on a Wire,\u201d speaks to the tension between freedom and vulnerability, a precarious state of existence where at any moment one could fly or fall. Leonard Cohen\u2019s 1968 song is an apology, a prayer, and an anthem. He sings, \u201cI have tried in my way to be free.\u201d The idiom also speaks to what it feels like to be an artist; constantly on the verge of success or failure, balancing security with unpredictability. The idiom also speaks to this historical moment where society itself feels precarious or to quote Cohen\u2019s song, we are all \u201clike a worm on a hook.\u201d With this in mind, we invited participants of Kolaj Fest New Orleans to submit for this exhibition, which was juried by Christy Wood, the director of LeMieux Galleries, and Kolaj Magazine Editor Ric Kasini Kadour.
