Single Use\/Long Memory<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSingle Use\/Long Memory\u201d is a solo exhibition by artist and Tulane Professor of Practice Jill Stoll. The exhibition brings together woven and constructed works made from cardboard, aluminum coffee capsules, and invasive vine. Each work begins with a material whose previous life remains visible. Rather than disguising or erasing those histories, the work transforms them through weaving, accumulation, compression, and suspension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Packaging becomes woven fields. Used coffee capsules become a measured record of daily ritual. An invasive vine is coaxed into lightweight forms that occupy space while retaining its unruly character. Each material continues to assert its own structure, resistance, and lifespan, shaping the work as much as it is shaped by it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition considers transformation as a process of continuity rather than replacement. What is intended for single use becomes enduring structure. What appears temporary leaves a lasting trace. Through repetition and material restraint, these works ask viewers to look again at the ordinary objects and systems that pass through their hands\u2014and to consider what remains after their intended purpose has ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
