“Habitual”: new mixed media works by Steve Tierney<\/p>\n

Having lived outside of Australia for almost 3 years, Steve Tierney\u00a0returns to Sydney for his most recent solo show. Tierney\u2019s new body of work presents collage pieces made from found materials, old magazines and discarded objects such as used cigarette packaging.<\/p>\n

For “Habitual”, Tierney creates one “quick” collage per day in a sketchbook using cut outs from the larger pieces as well as any other scraps or objects left over during production. Follow along on his website: HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The intention of the sketchbook is to explore the idea of working at a quick pace with whatever materials are on hand in order to free up the creative process and allow “accidents” to occur, making the final images more expressive and less forced. These images are also on display at the exhibition.<\/p>\n

Steve Tierney currently lives in Oaxaca, Southern Mexico, and has held solo and group exhibitions of his art in Australia, Japan, Cambodia and Mexico since 2003.<\/p>\n

Steve Tierney is also part of Kolaj Magazine’s Artist Directory<\/a> and Collage Artist Trading Cards, Pack One<\/a>.<\/p>\n
