The airport describes the collage as incorporating \u201ctrending Instagram photos of traveler\u2019s feet on the carpet, big and small, with socks in the existing carpet design, a groovy manicure, and even a PDX pooch. \u2018Carpet Diem!\u2019 is a tribute to the historical 1980s retro-style turquoise and purple airport carpet\u2026\u201d Greta Blalock, the administrator of the Port Art Program, said that Wilkins, as an artist used to working with paper, had quite a challenge, but that she \u201caccepted the invitation, frankly, because it was just too quirky to pass up.\u201d \u201cCarpet Diem!\u201d is on view above the moving walkway on Concourse D of Portland International Airport through December 2015. The Port Art Program partners with regional artists, arts organizations, museums and schools to showcase visual art and musical performance at Portland International Airport.<\/p>\n
