Ohio\u2019s Kent State University School of Art is the new location of the National Collage Society Teaching Collection. The Teaching Collection is part of the School of Art\u2019s permanent collection, which includes over 4000 works of art. Martin Ball, Associate Professor of Painting at Kent State, was the first professor at a major American university offer classes in collage and the School of Art was the first to offer dedicated collage classes, taught separately from other media in the curriculum. The National Collage Society, Inc., located near Kent State in Hudson, Ohio, was founded in 1982 by Kent State alumna Gretchen Bierbaum, BA, MA. The NCS serves as a non-profit educational foundation whose mission is to educate the public about collage through exhibitions (both physical and online), lectures, books, and support of the Teaching Collection. The Teaching Collection continues to seek support, both financial support and donations of collage to the collection.
