My niece had gone into labour with her first child. She lived in Texas, I was in Washington. There wasn\u2019t much I could do. Under different circumstances, given my background serving pregnant and parenting mothers, it would have been natural for me to have a role,&#8221; writes Laurie Kayner in <em>Kolaj<\/em> #18. As time was suspend in waiting, I had an activity to anchor myself. She earned her Master\u2019s in Human Development from St. Mary\u2019s University in Minnesota. She is the author of <em>25 Things To Do When Grandpa Passes Away<\/em>, <em>Braided Memories<\/em>, and <em>The Journey of Becoming a Mother<\/em>.
