Forty-two people died. Lost in the fires was the home, studio, and all of the artwork of collagist Sherry Parker. \u201cWe got out with the clothes on our back, our car, and laptops,\u201d said Parker. \u201cWe have literally lost everything.\u201d Parker has been working with collage since 1987 and brings a dynamic serendipity to her art making. \u201cCollage is an adventure; a happening,\u201d she said. In this magazine, her work was featured in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kolajmagazine.com\/exhibition\/broken-bodies.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Exhibition-in-Print \u201cBroken Bodies\u201d<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/kolajmagazine.com\/content\/issues\/issue-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Kolaj<\/em> #11<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/kolajmagazine.com\/artistdirectory\/sherry-parker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Artist Directory<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/kolajmagazine.com\/content\/news\/collage-artist-trading-cards-pack-six\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Collage Artist Trading Cards Pack 6<\/a>. Parker reports, \u201cWe plan to rent someplace to stay for the month of November while we look for something more permanent. I fear it will be quite a while before I have the space and materials to work again, but it is a high priority so I\u2019m sure I\u2019ll figure something out as soon as I possibly can. In the meantime we\u2019re living from day to day and trying to sort out the rest of our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fellow collage artist John Hundt has taken up the task of collecting donations of imagery, scissors, glue, and other collage making supplies so that Sherry can keep working.
