Burry Buermans’ Artist Portfolio<\/h2>\n

The Birds<\/em> is a dense, packed collage in which the fragments coalesce into the shape of a tree. This is a typical strategy of Burry Buermans who has also made a telephone with fragments of pin-up girls, a bomb with images of grafitti tags, and a skull embedded in a diamond with flowers. The shape of the final work defines the composition and provides a visual anchor. The copious fragments become the texture and colour of the image. As a child, Belgian artist Burry Buermans had a curious eye for art and the innocent dream to become an artist. He didn’t go to art school, but always experimented with different art forms. With a motto of “Chase your dreams, wherever they take you”, he collected old Trabant cars, started a theatre company and hitchhiked around the world. During a trip to Panama, he was shot by robbers, strengthening his passion for life even more. Back in Belgium, he worked as a teacher and coordinated a youth service. In the summer of 2012, he moved to Portugal to focus fully on his work as an artist, making collages, and fulfilling his dream.
