Comme des Gar\u00e7ons Homme Plus Showcases Cecil Touchon Collage in their Fall 2018 Menswear Collection<\/h2>\n

When Comme des Gar\u00e7ons Homme Plus debuted its Fall 2018 Menswear collection in Paris last January, famed designer Rei Kawakubo showcased collage artist Cecil Touchon. Amidst what Sarah Mower writing for Vogue<\/em> described as \u201ca procession that began with boys wearing dinosaur masks and Superman cartoon prints\u201d was a button-up shirt featuring the Touchon\u2019s collaged lettering. It makes my imagery familiar in an ambient way in the general culture and after all, with all of the collage artists using magazine material in their art now a days that is fashion being turned into art.<\/em><\/h2>\n

Cecil Touchon was born in Austin, Texas and attended both North Texas State University in Denton and the University of Texas at Arlington. Touchon is the founder and director of the International Museum of Collage, Assemblage and Construction and co-founder of the International Post-Dogmatist Group. He is also a member of the Massurrealist Society and founder of the La Sociedad Massurrealista de Mexico. He has been featured in dozens of exhibition catalogues, magazine articles, and scholarly publications. His work is in many corporate and several major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Tate Modern in London. Touchon has exhibited his work extensively in both solo and group shows in North America and Europe, including the Venice Biennial in 2001 and 2009. His most recent solo exhibition<\/a>, in February 2018 at Kelsey Michaels Fine Art in Laguna Beach, California, included his large-scale homage to Kazimir Malevich\u2019s 1912-1913 painting The Knife Grinder (The Glittering Edge)<\/em>, as well as the collage work used in Rei Kawakubo\u2019s 2018 Paris Men\u2019s Fashion Week show.
