STATEMENT

My collage making process is a ritual in self-care through the creation of found image narratives. Guided by the therapeutic benefits of collage as a daily practice, my work is as much about the process as the finished result. I find the tactile patterns of collecting primarily vintage imagery and ephemera and carefully hand-cutting, tearing, assembling, and gluing these delicate materials incredibly soothing and emotionally beneficial. I often find myself drawn to the colors, textures, and “feeling” or ambiance associated with older images and enjoy embracing the juxtapositions and serendipitous discoveries that arise from intuitively piecing these elements into something new. My work explores themes of nature, emotion, memory, symbolism, and an overwhelming appreciation for joy and beauty.
