STATEMENT

Christian Johnson’s work utilizes the idea of recycling forgotten furnishings to recreate assemblage artwork that doubles as a functional furniture piece. Not only does Christian bring together the assemblage with found objects, but makes it known that his furniture collage takes on a personality or human characteristics.

Inspired by a period of deep sorrow, these furniture collages are meant to express emotions Christian could not share on his own.

BIO

Christian Johnson is an artist who practices collage in both 2D & 3D forms.

After graduating college in 2018 in Interior Architecture and Design, Christian found a deep interest for mid century furniture design.

With this in mind, Christian combined his practice of 2D collage into 3D object as sculpture, as well as functional furniture design.

By combining both worlds, this created a gateway for furniture and collage to rise to an all new perspective.
