STATEMENT

I do Neo-Naive Paintings of Artists creating art. People tell me I’m a cross between Matisse and George Segal.

My “Artist and Model” series is a series to document what the model sees from the model stand. Also what the artist sees from the back of the room in an Open Studio setting, sometimes with a playful twist. The structures of the easels from behind and the artists at them gave me the ideas for these works. I have used my sketches at these Open Studios to create these mixed media pieces. They are my homages to the artists and the models. And my tribute to Open Studios where we learn our craft and interact with our fellow artists.

I use India ink, paper, pencil, acrylic, cut out material and whatever else strikes my eye to make my collage.

BIO

I think the sexiest thing about my career is that my artwork has appeared in many major entertainment venues including Bloodline, House of Lies, The Affair, Go On and the Thriller Unthinkable. I will also have my art featured on a Bus Bench in Pacoima, California as part of their City Beautification Program. I am proud to have had two solo shows at the Edwards Air Force Base Library, the home of the Right Stuff.

I have exhibited at both the Museum of Art and History (MOAH) and MOAH Cedar, a museum in Lancaster, California. I have also shown at Gallery 825 in West Hollywood; Art Pic (rents and sells to entertainment industry); the Latino Art Museum; San Fernando Valley Art and Cultural Center; Beyond the Lines Gallery in Bergamont Station, Santa Monica, California; Channel Islands Studio in Camarillo, California and numerous other locations.

I have three series: my “Artist” series, my “Train” series and my “Political Poster” series. For fun, I also do mobiles which have shown at numerous locations.

Right now, I am working on a massive project which will feature 100 exceptional Los Angeles area artists. It will involve my collage, as well as my acrylic painting and my drawing. I am planning a book for this when it is completed. This project is estimated to take one year. It was launched in July of 2017 and has already gotten commitments from some exceptional artists to participate in this project.

My training includes classes at Otis Parsons; John H Campbell Folk Art School; classes at Antelope Valley College; and with artists Robert Burridge and Bradford Salamon.

I live in Los Angeles County and exhibit mainly in Southern California, although I have also exhibited in Upstate New York, Michigan, and Northern California.
