Jessica Dame
Jessica Dame STATEMENT My work merges fine art and design, while exploring themes of the feminine in nature, dichotomies (particularly life/death and dark/light), and transformation. Through the use of negative space, clean lines, composition, and contrast, I strive for a minimalist aesthetic. I use beauty and restraint as refining lenses through which to focus and bring elegance to a subject. While I experiment with a variety of materials and processes, recurring motifs provide discernible cohesion between many of my works. BIO Born and raised in Hampton, Virginia, I grew up by the Chesapeake Bay, where I spent my days organizing sticker collections, creating illustrated stories, and drawing sea life. I attended Christopher Newport University and earned a Bachelor’s in art history which informs my work to this day. Inspired by the beauty of the natural world, fashion photography, illustration, and popular culture, I seek to blend fine art and design. Through the use of negative space, clean lines, composition, and contrast, I strive for a minimalist aesthetic. Beauty and restraint are used as refining lenses through which to focus and bring elegance to a subject. I experiment with a variety of materials and processes through the combination of illustration, painting, and collage. Under the moniker of Lady Dame Prints, my designs appear on greeting cards, postcards, and stickers. In addition to exhibiting, I have participated in pop-up markets locally for Anthropologie, JCrew, and The Collective, and published in Skirt! Magazine, Sea Foam Magazine, Reply magazine, and Kakalak 2017. ARTIST CONTACT [click to email] IMAGES
