STATEMENT

My goal is to create moments that ask the viewer to question what they are looking at, what they are surrounded by. I negotiate a perception of space based on the quality and intangibility of line. Illusionary dimensional space is developed in relation to actual materials found in the construction of buildings. Linear elements are implied and assembled through the use of thin taught strings, large wooden structures, paper fabrications, and assemblages.

Scale shifts play a vital role. Model space exists as a miniature for a viewer to project into, which acts in opposition to a response elicited from a life-size object. The goal is to create a duality of experiencing space both as a projection into a miniature and as a physical experience, comparable to our perception of our surroundings.
