Lauren Wilcox
Lauren Wilcox STATEMENT Reuse is the biggest draw to me when it comes to the practice of college. Having the ability to turn a paper grocery bag or an old letter into something with an entirely different meaning is a therapeutic exercise. Most of my collage components come from old art history books or vintage health and beauty magazines–sometimes an element will sit with me for months or years before finding its proper place. I often find myself contrasting soft feminine elements with gritty texture and moody colors. BIO Lauren is a designer, painter, and mixed media artist based in Seattle, Washington. Her work explores themes of femininity throughout history, religion, and human agency. Utilizing a variety of mediums, Lauren’s space planning and architectural training often informs her process and structured compositions; contrasting the built environment with elements of nature and the human figure.
