STATEMENT

My work offers artistic, literary, and musical interpretations of the elements that comprise our natural world, while attributing a larger value to things that may be considered to be inconsequential. Much of my practice is inspired by my own heritage of being half-Chinese and half-Croatian, and explores hybrid identity and mixed-cultural upbringing.

Using paper, found materials, photography, text, drawing, and music, I reflect on cycles within the natural world and human life, while drawing awareness to the mundane and fleeting.

BIO

Leanne Dunic is a multi-disciplinary artist from Vancouver, Canada. She is rich in dreams and experiences, which she enjoys documenting through images, music, and words. Her style is simplistic and organic and explores the dichotomies of tradition/modernity, nature/technology, masculine/feminine, and east/west. Her own heritage manifests the latter dynamic: her mother is Chinese, her father is Croatian. In her work, Leanne explores hybrid identity and the human relation to the environment and the supernatural.
