STATEMENT

Born under the sign of Aries, I am by nature easily bored, with art and nature being the only exceptions.

The act of creating paper mosaic collages and paintings challenges me on all levels; spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and sometimes on those long plein air excursions, even physically. I have found nothing else in life that consumes all of my being.

I have always had a love affair with color, texture and pattern-on-pattern which I incorporate into my art. The unique collage techniques that I use and developed over time, is the result of my extensive experimentation.

The paper mosaic collage technique utilizes bits of paper that are “collaged” (glued) and layered on the canvas to create the image or picture. You could say that I “paint” with paper! There can be as many as 5-10 layers in some areas in order to create the effect I want.

A professional grade, two component Urethane clear coat, is used as a final finish on all collages. This glossy, non-yellowing, clear coating has a special UV formula which protects the artwork from ever fading.

Most of my inspiration is from nature & wildlife. My recent art work has been inspired by spiritual, social commentary and from my nightly dreams. The subjects ranging from war, environmental issues, political concerns, woman’s issues and mans journey to become enlightened beings.

My intention for the viewer, is to be drawn into my artwork long enough to forget their troubles and worries……for a moment of peace and thoughtful reflection in this hectic and crazy world we live in.
