Macsime Simon’s collage is a mix and match of mostly 20th century painterly styles juxtaposed with an overt, 21st century execution. His works play between painting and collage, and so it becomes interesting to identify where each of the elements exist.

Macsime Simon lives and works in Le Mans, France. You can see more of his work on his Tumblr page HERE.

An Artist Portfolio about Macsime Simon appeared in Issue Nine. This is some of what Kolaj associate editor Ariane Fairlie had to say:

Simon is confrontational, especially in the use of central composition. The emotive characters display despair, anxiety, torture and suspicion. Sometimes they are left defiled and deeply exposed, other times they are being torn open in front of you, and you wonder if the character is massacring itself. All of these sentiments are reinforced by Simon’s use of line, which can be scratchy and desperate or bold with purpose.
