“Dritte Räume” (Third Spaces) at Riesa Efau, Kultur Forum Dresden: Judith Karcheter, Evgenija Wassilew, and Bignia Wehrli

In a fragmentary manner, in video, installation, text, collage, and photography, the Berlin-based artists Judith Karcheter, Evgenija Wassilew, and Bignia Wehrli grapple with questions on the theme of the visibility of the artistic process in space.

How does one translate physical or biographical phenomena, poetically motivated memories, time, speed or roads traveled into an artistic presentation that plays with the differently connoted parameters of space?

This group show in the Motorenhalle presents the spatial work of the the artists: explorations of the “simultaneity of the non-simultaneous” (Bignia Wehrli), the biographical-poetical associations of memorial rooms and historically connoted spaces or non-spaces (Judith Karcheter), as well as one’s own body as an acoustic space-constant (Evgenija Wassilew).
