Daniel Kany is an art historian, art critic and freelance writer. More than 200 of Kany’s art criticism columns have appeared in the Maine Sunday Telegram and the Portland Press Herald. Kany’s writing has been featured in numerous publications including Portland Magazine, Art New England, the Union of Maine Visual Artists online magazine, Maine Home + Design, The Finest, Art Dish and The Morning Sentinel. Kany has also authored numerous catalogs about artists, including: Lino Tagliapietra, Judith Kindler, Randy McCoy, Henry Isaacs, Craig Mooney, George Wardlaw, Joseph Castle III, Joyce Gehl and Donald Gummer. Kany has written books on Robert Kantor, Lino Tagliapietra and penned numerous profiles and a chapter–“Craft as Art”–in the forthcoming Maine Art New. Kany has won multiple awards from the Maine Press Association for his criticism. Daniel Kany lives and works in Cumberland, Maine.
