Oregon-born artist Liz Cohn has been making and exhibiting her works in collage, mixed media, painting and assemblage for nearly 30 years. For seven years, she was a member of the artist operated 12×16 Gallery. Liz then organized the mail art project “Playing with a Full Deck”, which ran for over three years and became the largest mail art collaboration specific to playing cards, with hundreds of artists participating from all over the world.
With Gallery 6 PDX in 2012, she launched an art gallery in the heart of Portland’s developing Eastside with a spotlight on local and international collage, assemblage and mixed media.
During her time as a gallery owner, she formed a supportive relationship with Kolaj Magazine in 2014, Liz was asked to join as a contributing writer. Drawing from her experiences as an artist and small gallery owner, she interviews collage and assemblage artists from the Pacific Northwest and from her travels, with an intentionally personal and approachable tone.
