STATEMENT

My obsession with “the face” began at an early age. Eight. I’d asked my mother, “Mommy, am I pretty?” After a long pause, she replied.

“Well,” she said, “You’re interesting looking.”

I’ve been exploring beauty and creating portraits ever since, and I’ve come to agree with Edgar Allan Poe; “There is no exquisite beauty…without some strangeness in the proportion.”

This past year, 2020, has added layers, quite literally, to the mix and to my work. To date, I have created well over 250 “Pandemic Portraits.”
