STATEMENT

I’m always asked how I can cut so tiny, and I always reply, “with tiny scissors, of course!” But the true answer is patience, and a giddy love for tiny cuts.

The fun challenge, for me, lies in making something with the limited materials on hand.

Also: I just love how fragile vintage stamps are, how precise you need to be—one small slip up and it’s ruined. And I love how, because of all that, it commands my entire attention…It’s just me and a goal to cut as close to the line as I possibly can; always cutting a small bit then reassessing, cutting a little bit more, and reassessing again, on and on until finally the piece is fully cut out and now I have a tiny little guy sitting on the tip of my index finger. It’s magical!

Challenging, yes, but very satisfying to have it all work out.
