SPPY#3

SPPY#3

by Dan of Earth

The SPPY series arose from an attempt to turn the AI gremlins against themselves. When the artist Dan of Earth first heard about these artificial intelligence “Text-to-Image” things, he tried to get one to draw him an example of Antonio Prohias’ “Spy vs Spy” comic strip from Mad Magazine. What it gave back to him was pictures of little monsters pointing guns at each other. Assuming he’d done it wrong, he tried again, like 200 times, each time getting a picture that was super amusing, but not a bit like “Spy vs Spy”. Dan ended up using various techniques from Brotchie’s A Book of Surrealist Games to extend and combine the results into comic book form. This time around he wrote some software to generate “dialog” for a theoretical episode of The Avengers.
