Artist Portfolio: Lisa McCutcheon
The components Lisa McCutcheon uses in her collages are natural shapes filled with lines that mark their contours, in a muted variety of earth tones and shades of grey. The transparency of the elements is also key to the composition, where the built-up scenes mingle like smoke rising in a still room, or as algae swaying with the rising of the tide. This effect is produced both with the use of Mylar sheets that highlight areas that have been overlapped and through the use of watercolours.
A portfolio of Lisa McCutcheon’s work appears in KOLAJ #15.

“In one recent body of work, the gnarled and anemic trees in my neighbourhood, victims of heavy pruning, were the influence for a number of large collages.”
