International Weird Collage Show Hits Brooklyn

Sleep Walker by Charles Wilkin

19 April-10 May 2014

The curatorial team of Charles Wilkin, Max-o-matic and Rubén B presents the 8th edition and US debut of its International Weird Collage Show. And it’s a doozy with lots of familiar names: Fred Free whose work was on the cover of the first issue of Kolaj Magazine; The Age of Collage editor Dennis Busch and Cutting Edges editor James Gallagher; Tamar Cohen, whose fantastic collages we featured in Kolaj #1; the expert paper cutter Molly Bosley; Montreal pop-artist Alan Ganev; Joe Castro, whose portfolio is in this issue; Brooklyn’s Sweet Suede, who is in Pack Two of Collage Artist Trading Cards; over 30 artists from 10 countries in all. As stated by the organizers, “By enlisting the help of co-curator and local collage master Charles Wilkin, this exhibition promises to reexamine this often misunderstood medium with an interactive exhibition of stunning experimental collage works, inspirational artist talks and a live collage round table featuring many of today’s most influential cutters.”
